My wife's computer Wind.7 and Canon IP4820 will print in place of an apostrophe, a small (a) with a small (v), upside down over it ,also capital © with an equal sign (=) right in the middle of the ©. How can I get it to behave?

First thing I'd try is a new printer cable ... one that's not too long ... or tangled up within another pile of cables.
