<_< I learned the hard way - came on to this site and noticed that it detected a "parasite" that was present on my browser navigation bar...I clicked on the suggestions/directions on how to rid my system of this.... The directions were great, click add/remove hardware, find the hotkey program, uninstall...but then...if you are planning to take it a step further by ridding your registry of some "left-overs" that may be left behind after doing add/remove -- BEEEE CARRRRREFUL!

The directions say to enter into Regedit, and delete certain keys such as current_user, and so on...while I did this - that nagging little voice was back in the recesses of my brain screaming DONT DO IT!!! ...I should have listened... If you too didn't listen..and later could not even boot into safe mode because of your temporary insanity..(deleting ANY registrykeys is bad, bad, bad)...then at least get into DOS...windows....type REGSCAN...it'll allow you to restore a previous copy of your registry...and you're back in business... :D

Thanks for the feedback JoJoiiiii!

Editing the registry is always risky business. I recommend only advanced users even attempt it, and then always create a backup first.

The script that detects these parasites is a great tool, but I'd recommend that most members ask for removal help, and not attempt it themselves.

We're always glad to help! <_<

Has anyone else visited the front page and noticed a warning?
