Hello Everyone and thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

 

Installed a new MB for my wife.  I connected the ATX and everything worked fine, then a couple of days ago I needed to disconnected it, to do something else, then when I reconnected it there seems to be an electrical short.

 

Basically if I put my hand on the ATX connection push it to the side and only plug it in to the MB half way the machine will power up and operate as normal.  If I let go or plug the ATX in all the way then the machine does nothing. No fans, lights etc...

 

Any thoughts?  Anyone had a similar issue?  Brand new MB which could only handle the ATX being taken out once before the connection died?

 

I have tried the PSU on another machine and it works perfectly.  I have tried another working PSU on the same machine and there was the same problem with the ATX connection on the MB.  So, it is not the PSU.

More like an open rather than a short.  I would look for a bad solder joint under the MB connector.  IF it's new can't you send it back?

Thanks! I will have a look.  Yes, it is still under warranty so I could navigate the returns policy.  I think the board only cost £40.  Thanks again.
