Hello,

I have a Samsung monitor with one hdmi port connecting it to the computer.  My speakers are connected to the computer.  I'd like to use my Fire Stick on the monitor but, of course, there would be no connection to the computer to get sound.  Would/could I use an hdmi splitter to plug the monitor to the computer and the Fire Stick into the monitor.  Would that let me stream videos and music and get sound on what I was streaming?  I'd considered an hdmi port but I'm thinking that wouldn't allow connection to the computer AND the Fire Stick at the same time.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

can i ask why you want to use the firestick to stream content onto the monitor when you can stream the exact same content using the pc already connected to the monitor anyway?

what you want to do is possible BUT means buying a number of adaptors, and you will not be able to use both the pc and the firestick at the same time, also the monitor probably has to be hdcp compliant for the firestick to stream to it.

first you need an hdmi audio extractor device so you have an audio out connection you can use to connect to some speakers.

you can not get the firesticks audio to pass through the pc and use it's speakers directly but depending on if your speakers use a separate cable with jack's on each end, to connect the speakers to the pc and not a dedicated cable that comes out of them that plugs into the pc you could use an audio switch to switch between the pc's sound out and the firesticks sound out depending on which you want to hear.

you will also need a hdmi switch so you can connect 2 hdmi inputs to the 1 monitor and switch between them depending on what you want displayed.

so you'd need :-

an audio switch like this :- http://www.lightinth...CFWMq0woddLwMIA

an audio cable like this :- https://www.amazon.c...ck stereo cable

an hdmi audio extractor like this :- http://www.lightinth...CFdMV0wodyFAPug

an hdmi switch like this :- https://www.amazon.c...h/dp/B00629NHW6

and probably 2 hdmi cables :- https://www.amazon.c...ords=hdmi cable

so that's 5 or 6 things you'd need to buy to be able to use the firestick on the monitor with sound, and in my honest opinion would not be worth it when you can just stream the same content with the pc anyway.

you could use a single device like this instead of the 2 separate hdmi audio extractor and hdmi switch devices. :- https://www.amazon.c...E3HYHGTQ30HCS06
