sounds like your describing a composite video connection, which uses a rca connection type. :- https://en.wikipedia...Composite_video

 

rgb (component video.) :- https://en.wikipedia...Component_video

 

if you provide the make and model of your motherboard, we can check to see what connections it has for video output.
