Symantec are the company behind Norton products in case you are not aware.

Yes I know :-)

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here,  this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

I did it but there are too much information in the posted page (PC name, Users names etc.) that I prefer not to share

Could you please let me know what part of the analysis are you interested so I can copy paste from the txt file?

thanks

cheers

It is possible that there are still traces of a Symantec/Norton product on your computer that is causing you problems.

Regarding Speccy, only copy paste the results url into your reply (see attachment) this way none of your personal data or product keys are avaiable.

Please post only the url for your Speccy report as shown in my reply #32, the 79 page PDF makes for difficult reading   :(

To copy/paste the url, left click on it to highlight it, right click and select copy, right click in the GTG dialogue input box when you next reply, select paste then the Post tab.

Couple of things that I did note in the PDF;

There is no add on video card present, you are using the MBs integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 but there are Nvidea video card drivers present.

Running:  This service enables products that use the Nalpeiron Licensing System

Have you ever knowingly installed such software from Nalpeiron Licensing System, see link here if not, there are a couple of ways that the software (which is totally legitimate btw) could have gotten onto your computer, Norton is a user of the software as is Logitech your brand of keyboard and mouse, explanation as to why I ask below;

From your reply #29;

I've googled a little bit and some says that is due to a symantec product that I don't have (endpoint protection). I've checked the manual uninstall down to the registry but it's not there...

From my reply #32;

It is possible that there are still traces of a Symantec/Norton product on your computer that is causing you problems.

I cannot say with 100% certainty that it is but Nalpeiron Licensing System could be the rogue Symantec product or association that you mention in your reply #29, will wait on your url/update for now.

Phillpower2,

thanks for your answer!

Speccy provide too much information (Users name profile, IPs, etc.) that I prefer not to share in public. I can send to you the HTML via PM (I've tried to attach here but it's not possibile)

I never installed by myself, but I have Logitech keyboard and mouse. Norton was fully uninstalled.

Do I need to take any action?

there are Nvidea video card drivers present.

I'd taken a look in my HD and yes, there is some Nvidia garbage there: do you have any tool for remove, or do I need to do manually?

Please let me know!

Thanks

Cheers

Hello Faina,

No problem regarding the Speccy url, you can send it to me via PM and to put your mind at ease below is some info regarding Speccy urls;

The last part of each URL is randomized, so only people you provide with the URL will be able to find your profile.

Note: Each time you start Speccy, it will generate a new randomized URL. This is useful if you want to track your computer's information over time.

Will come back to the Nvidea drivers after looking going over Speccy properly.

Post separately in response to PM;

Defender and some other Microsoft updates have installed ok which is odd, try using IE instead of Chrome then run the MS update troubleshooter, if that does not work the next step is trying a Repair installation for which you will need your Windows 10 media;

Download and run the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

Hello Faina,

What has been tried without success to correct the problems that you are having;

Running Driver Verifier.

Running the Windows All in One repair tool.

Running Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Running SFC multiple times.

A system refresh.

Running the Microsoft update troubleshooting tool

After doing all of the above there are still problems with the Windows update service that cannot be fixed by any means other than working within the registry, fine if you are comfortable with it but if done wrong Windows will become unbootable altogether, with this in mind I would suggest that after backing up any important data you do a clean install of Windows 10, we can help you with this when you return from vacation, meanwhile the information regarding fixing the update service within the registry at the MS link here

Hello Faina,

Best option I feel as you have done as much as you can troubleshooting wise.

Once you have done the clean install of Windows 10 please download and install the chipset drivers for your motherboard which you can obtain from here other than that you should be all good.

Please let us know how it goes or if you have any questions along the way.

You are most welcome btw  :)
