Having difficulty with WMM.  After film is imported and I try to use video effects WMM crashes and I am returned to desktop.  The only change I have made is that recently I downloaded K-Lite Codec Pak _10.  Not sure if this is problem or not.

Sounds to me like a codec mismatch or failure.  Frequently with video editing, if it crashes, that is usually the culprit.  I would suggest a couple of potential fixes.  1) System restore to before the codec pack was installed and see if you still have the problem.  2) Try reinstalling the codec pack possibly using a different installation preset choice.  When I have installed K-Lite in the past I have usually used Option 8 without player and have not had a problem with it functioning as it should.
