Cannot get computer to load sony camera. Have tried normal mode on camera ( recommended) also pictbridge and PTP. No luck. Computer just will not recognise the camera. Please help!!

And this camera connects to the computer....how?

USB cord? Firewire? Docking station? What kind of computer? What model camera.

Hard to help with so little info

It connects with a USB cord. I have a Dell 4700 computer and the camera is a Sony DSC W5 cyber-shot

try another usb cable?

try the camera on another pc?

I've tried another USB port
My card reader doesn't work either
I haven't tried another PC I probably can do that over the weekend

well, also i'm going on so little information but i have to ask did your camera colme with a disk so that you can load that proper drivers for your camera

Yes it did come with a disc but it doesn't bring up the scanner/camera wizard so that the camera can be reconised by the computer

There is freeware, such as Irfanview and Xnview which will work with a twain source to download pictures from your camera.

I've used it with an XP machine and it works very well.

One question is, do you have the twain drivers in your computer now? You may have to install them in Add/Remove programs. :tazz:

when you connect the camera, can you see it in MY COMPUTER?

Can you connect anything to the usb ports, and is anything recognized (so we know if it is a usb problem or a camera problem)

No it doesn't show up in my computer and I have a printer/scanner/copier hooked up also another scanner that scans slides. I have been trying to get the camera hooked up since before I hooked up the scanner that scans slides
