Alright then, I have replaced the first card with this one; it should work right? Also, I've been wondering if I could use my laptop as a temporary monitor and keyboard when I get the computer itself, as they will require yet more saving and I really want to be able to use it as soon as I can. I doubt it, but just want to make sure.

Yes that card will work.  Note, All 1000 series GPUs do not support VGA, Analogue, output.  

As far as I know, you can't use a laptop screen as a PC monitor as it does not have a video input, only video outputs.   You might try a TV as monitor, providing it has a DVI input.

Yeah, I didn't think I could use the laptop, but I thought it would be worth asking. So yeah, that is all of the parts taken care of (again) and I've started ordering some of the parts. It should still take another week or to to get all of them but the monitor, and when it is all ready I'll be sure to let you know how it all works.

Alright then, quick update, I've ordered most of the parts, but I've already waited a while for the motherboard and gpu I wanted have been out of stock for a while now, so I've changed them to the Asus Z170 ATX 1151 motherboard and the EVGA Geforce GTX1060 6GB sc gpu. I will order them soon and within 2 weeks at most they should all be here and put together.

Allrighty then, I have good news. I put it all together and it hasn't blown up. So far it is silent and fairly fast, but the thing is I'm not sure how to connect it to my internet. I have a router that works but the computer doesn't have seem to have the ability to connect to it, and I'm not sure what new thing I should get or even some small setting I should change.

Thanks for the update.   First part is good news, glad the build went OK. 

Internet troubles.

Check in Device Manager to check that all drivers were successfully istalled from the MB driver disk.  If OK.

Try running first the Network troubleshooter

1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Network troubleshooter, and then select Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
2. Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

Hooray, success. I think I have found out why it wouldn't connect to wifi: it probably does not have an adapter built in. I had just assumed it did because this motherboard is made specifically for gaming. So I have drilled a hole downstairs to where the internet modem is and plugged an Ethernet cable into it because it would be cheaper than buying a wifi adapter, faster than most of them, and the modem is directly below me anyways. My computer now connects to the internet just fine and now I am downloading various things onto it. I'll update you on the actual performance once I have downloaded some things onto it and tested them.

But I also have one (hopefully) last question. Whenever I turn on the computer it takes me to the motherboard BIOS or whatever it's called (the place where you fiddle with fan speeds, look at the CPU temp, etc.) I want it to boot up windows immediately, but I'm not sure how to do that. I've tried to mess with the boot order and priority list but that doesn't do anything.

Sorry, my mistake, I assumed you had plugged into the LAN socket and it was a driver problem, and as the saying goes, "Never ASSUME, because when you ASSUME, you make an [bleep] of U and ME" 

The Ethernet connection was the best solution.

Lets see if a UEFI (bios) reset will solve the boot issue.   Restart and enter UEFI > go to the Exit Menu, > select "Load Default Settings" > press Enter, > confirm.

Do you now Boot t windows?

Okay then, that did seem to work and windows automatically boots now. In a day or two I will have a game or two downloaded and tested, and so I'll give a full summary of the build then.

If you have installed CCcleaner, or similar, please do not use the registry cleaner part.   They do not make a computer perform better, but often cause problems by altering/removing registry keys.

Ok then, I have tested this thing and it is pretty glorious. I was playing Overwatch and I was able to have almost the best quality of graphics at 60 fps. I love this thing, with only 2 problems, one of which is more of a nitpick if anything. Firstly, in Overwatch, there is a stat displayed which is VRM, which I have found is related to RAM. Its value was upwards of 1000 and my game kept on freezing for a second to load in textures and such, and my ping was below 60, so lag was not the problem. As such I think I will get a bit more RAM to add to the 8GB I have now.

Secondly - and this is the nitpick - the motherboard is constantly pulsing a red glow, even when turned off, which has been a bit weird to get used to when trying to sleep. Again, not a big thing, but still might be worth mentioning to anybody in the future who might use this as help in their build.

But other than that a really excellent build that I think I will use for a long time. Thank you so [bleep] much iammykyl, as generic as it sounds I really couldn't have done it without your help and patience. I'm so glad I decided to do this, worth every cent.

Thanks for keeping us updated, you are one of the good members.

I can't give much advise on any specific games performance.   I don't think it is RAM as the recommended is 6GB.   If you think it is load time, a SSD wold help as the read time for files is so much faster the a HDD.

 

I would first look at the software side.   Post with your issue on the game site, see if there is a bug/fix or others have the same problem.

Play on full screen.

Switch off background applications like indexing.

 

Do you have another game to test with?

Are you running Google?

 

You did not mention the model of the Asus MB, let me know than I can look at the red glow niggle.
