Creating a system restore point does not put a computer under any stress, if something goes wrong when installing any update/s the previously created restore point is you safety net to go back to, this only for any bad updates and will not always help with a damaged OS and never if a HDD fails.
You are welcome and no worry about how long things take, as long as you are still around its fine

Thanks very much for all your assistance, I'm going to shut this laptop down and reopen on the other system hopefully. We can mark the problem resolved
