I have connected my macbook pro to an existing network with an ethernet connection. However, the thunderbolt ethernet says I am connected; but when I do a search on safari the ip-address comes up where the http should be and a login screen appears. I am assigned an ip-address, subnet mask, router, and dns server. The network I joined is set up for a windows xp computer. I have no real computer knowledge except the basics. I was wondering if there is a quick fix for this issue. Thanks for your responses

Yeah it's the same computer. Sorry for the multiple posts I got sidetracked. I am not sure which encryption is being used. The windows xp computer that the network is set up with is connected to the wireless router through ethernet cables. On my macbook pro it says that the thunderbolt ethernet is connected with a green circle. I was wondering if maybe I have to to change the configure ipv4 to manual to change the ip address?

No worries, just didnt want to confuse things by answering here while you had been offered assistance by a fellow member in another thread, please continue at your earlier thread where RKinner has replied to your original OP.

Good luck
