PCGuard despite all my efforts still got installed...

I've gone through all the steps listed on this site to remove it, the actual program is gone, and doesn't return on reboot, but I don't have my destop back.

AdAware, Spybot, and all the other programs say I'm clean, but I can't get my destop back. Here is my hijack this report...

Please PRINT all the instructions recommended here.

There are quite a few programs available that offer protection features to help keep a computer from getting infected. While this is normally a helpful feature, it can keep a you from making the changes necessary to clean you comptuer. You are advised to DISABLE the following Protection Programs:

You have a CoolWebSearch infection. First we will need to download a few tools that will help us in the removal of your problem.

• Download about:buster by RubbeRDuckY HERE
• Please Download the stand-alone version of CoolWebShredder , Extract it & run the program. Click the Check for Updates, download if there is available.
  
• Download Cleanup
  
  Save all of these files somewhere you will remember like to the Desktop.
  
  Update About:Buster
  
  * Unzip the contents of AboutBuster.zip and an AboutBuster directory will be created.
  * Navigate to the AboutBuster directory and double-click on AboutBuster.exe.
  * Click "OK" at the prompt with instructions.
  * Click "Update" and then "Check For Update" to begin the update process.
  * If any updates exist please download them by clicking "Download Update" then click the X to close that window.
  * Now close About:Buster
  
  Boot into Safe Mode:
  Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.
  
  Please run about:buster by RubbeRDuckY:
  
  * Click Start and then OK to allow AboutBuster to scan for Alternate Data Streams.
  * Click Yes to allow it to shutdown explorer.exe.
  * It will begin to check your computer for malicious files. If it asks if you would like to do a second pass, allow it to do so.
  * When it has finished, click Save Log. Make sure you save it as I may need a copy of it later.
  * Reboot your computer into safe mode again
  
  Run about:buster again following the same instructions as above, this time without the restart at the end
  
  Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.
  
  Now run CleanUp! Reboot your computer into normal windows.

Spybot S&D : Tea Timer

• open Spybot
• go to Mode > Advance Mode
• go Tools > Residents
• UN-check Tea Timer
• close Spybot S&D

• Please download and install Spy Sweeper, in its trial version.
• Download all available updates on it.
• Close Spy Sweeper, so updates will take effect.
• RE-Open it again then click Sweep Now > Start
• Fix all found infections.

I don't understand why everytime a log is posted, I'm told (and I've read other posts that are the same) to download and run yet another program. Aren't all these programs going to conflict with one another?

Anyway, like I said in my last post - the Loki Torrent entries in the log won't go away. Doesn't matter if I run the program with nothing running, everything running, or in safe mode - it just won't go away.

And this 411 Ferret Toolbar isn't in my add/remove progams list.

Anyway, here's my latest log, I think that everything's back to normal now, at least everything seems to be running fine....

• go to Config, then Misc Tools
• Open Uninstall Manager, then click Save List...
• Post the results here
• close HJT

• RIGHT CLICK HERE, then choose save target as... Save it to a safe location where you can easily remember it.
• double-click pflist.bat and it will make a list of ALL files & folders in program files
• Through Windows Explorer, browse for pflist.txt
• post the results here

• click Start > Run > command
• type in cd\
• cd progra~1 or cd program files
• dir *.* >> c:\pflist.txt
• exit
• through windows explorer, locate c:\pflist.txt
