I had to reinstall a computer with vista on it and it all went well installed vista then the updates and then sp1 all did pretty quick no problems and sp2 and bang every time I install the new updater and it isn't even connecting to the internet just says checking for updates and can't even tell that the internet isn't plugged in like it would do normally. I have reinstalled it over 10 times to 100% make sure it's not me or anything I'm doing and used various vista disks I have all original. I have checked many forums and tried everything and nothing has worked I also see a lot of people using windows seven and vista all have the same problem mostly with new installs. Does any one have a solution please

Hi,

Sorry I coudn't understand if you successfully install the SP2 or not?

Hello Yes it's correctly installed to sp2 which is when the updates stopped and it says updating but no longer connect's to the net or even know's if the net is alive or dead. The Internet is working correctly and everything else updates av antimalware firewall and other software all ok just old troublesome vista.

Install manually the updates listed here http://wu.krelay.de/en/that apply to Windows Vista.

Make sure you configure first the Windows Update to Never check for Updates until you install the updates listed on that page.

When installing the updates if you see the message searching for updates for a long time cancel the install and stop the Windows Update service before trying to install the update again.

I've installed the updates and listed how each one went

KB3177725 - Done ok.

KB3168965 - Said it did not apply to my system.

KB3145739 - after it installed it said the following update was not installed.

KB3078601 - Done OK.

KB3164033 - Done OK.

KB3109094 - Done OK.

Should I try to update normally now? or wait till I've done something else

Hi,

About the error for KB3168965 its strange can you recheck that you did try to install the correct version.

By the way the Vista you have is 32 or 64 bits?

It's a 32bit system.

I tried it again and it still says it does not apply to my computer even re downloaded it and tried. what should I do next?

Ok.

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:

List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Restore Points

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.
