I was using the default "burn" icon from w/in explorer

 

I don't think the build-in function on Windows Vista can bun a ISO! Try with Free ISO Burner the program doesn't require installation.

I tried to provide you a direct download link, it seems it doesn't work open http://www.softsea.c...ISO-Burner.htmldon't click on any download button simply wait for the download to start, the file is named FreeISOBurner.exe

tried it in the bad machine, got a prompt to boot from the disc, but it failed see attached for files on disc

The disk looks ok.

 

On the bad machine try changing the boot order on the bios. What happens exactly when the machine try to boot from the disk?

chkdsk ran,  at end message stated:

 

Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 0

 

Tried to start machine - got the bsod

The transfer error is normal because chkdsk is no running on a normal windows...

 

Did you notice if chkdsk did some corrections?

 

At this point probably the only solution is to try the System Restore, see if there is any point available prior the problem start.
