I've had a browse through the history of threads and to save some time I've attached the Minidump files for ya.

Please help.

Hello agent_numpty,

Looked at the last three dumps and the one common denominator is dc1_controller which I have highlighted in red, highlighted in blue is the driver that the dc1_controller conflicted with in the last crash, the previous two dumps only show that the dc1_controller driver conflicted with a system driver meaning that the dc`_controller is the most likely cause of the crashes.

Do you have an XBox1 controller as that is what this driver is associated with.

audiodg.exe btw is a Windows audio driver.

For testing purposes disconnect it, uninstall any drivers/software for it, restart the computer and test.

Ok, so I uninstalled drivers for the controller...at least I think I did. Windows 10 is such a nightmare to work around since they changed the Settings. Anyway, I uninstalled via the Device Manager.

I've restarted my PC after the uninstall. I checked the Xbox website for like a Windows 10 driver but the best they have is Windows 7 64-bit, could that be the reason why? Not sure how to play my games without a controller though.

It'll be a week or 2...or 3 coz the Kernel errors were pretty far apart before I give any results.

Windows 10 should have installed the latest XBox drivers for you when you installed or upgraded to 10, yours is not an isolated incident btw and threads go back as far as March of this year, see here try checking for updates without the controller connected to the computer, shut down the computer, connect the game controller, restart the computer and see if Windows detects the controller and offers any drivers for it.

Just checked your earliest dmp file dated Fri Jul 29 14:29:06.901 2016 and the cause is the same game controller driver.

The cause of the crash was the same, has the XBox software been reinstalled somehow, if yes, try uninstalling it with CCleaner (free) great program as long as one stays away from the registry cleaner

This was before the BSOD.

------------------------------

I did uninstall it and it asked me to restart, so I did. When the PC restarted it worked fine. Hadn't had any issues. I didn't visit the Xbox website and install any drivers at this point.

When I shut down the PC, I inserted the controller and started the PC back up. It installed the drivers automatically as normal but it wasn't til after I'd gone to bed that the BSOD happened. When I woke, my PC had restarted coz of the "Kernel.....collecting data....restart PC" stuff happened.

------------------------------

I used the CCleaner to uninstall ALL stuff relating to Xbox. I had an Xbox app, and SmartGlass for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Not sure if that helps or not. The controller had to be plugged in for it to show up on the Device Manager but I've uninstalled the drivers there too. Not had a single problem yet.

Because my controller is a wired Xbox 360 controller SPECIFIC to the Xbox and not to Windows. Would a PS3 wireless controller make any difference? I could get an adapter for it.

Update:

I have done a google search about the dc1-controller driver and apparently the Astro Mixamp can also be registered as a "Xbox Gaming Device" which uses the dc1-controller driver. I've uninstalled that too. Haven't been able to find to find the proper drivers for the Mixamp coz the Astro website has a dead link to the "Astro Command Centre" program

Not being familiar with the Astro Mixamp I Googled it and in some circumstances it does seem that there could be problems with Windows 10, thread here if you have not already read it.

What I would suggest is that you try using one or the other of the two devices separately to see if one causes the BSOD, it is important that you try each one independently for a prolonged period of time to see if either of the XBox controller drivers or the Astro Mixamp drivers on their own have a problem with Windows 10, it could for example be the audiodg.exe Windows audio driver that I mentioned in my reply #2 that has a problem with the Astro Mixamp drivers if as you mention in your reply #9  the Astro Mixamp can also be registered as a "Xbox Gaming Device" which uses the dc1-controller driver.

Would a PS3 wireless controller make any difference? I could get an adapter for it.

No idea I`m afraid so cannot advise, I use Windows wireless game pad controllers on a gaming rig running Windows 10 Pro and have not had any problems at all.

I haven't had a BSOD lately.

The Astro Mixamp has 2 settings, PC and Xbox. I have it on the PC setting with my controller still plugged in. As far as I'm aware, as long as it hasn't switched to the Xbox, everything is good. I haven't tested it with the Xbox setting but it's not needed since I can just go into my Sound Devices and switch from Speakers to Headset anyway.

Thanks for the help.
