Hello,

 

I have a Dell Lattitude D620.

I have a Dell Motherboard according to CPU-Z.

 

When I try to download BIOS update from Dell website

I get a prompt that says need to have adapter and battery plugged in.

 

My adapter is plugged in but my battery had died and is inoperable.

 

It will not allow me pass this prompt.

 

Appreciate some feedback.

Thanks that worked.

 

But now my problem is that I replaced the RAM to 4G (2G in front and back)

 

and it wont boot saying Memory write/read failure and that "to resolve this issue reseat the memory".

 

When I try to reseat it I keep getting message.

Are you sure the memory is good?

 

Try with one stick at the time. Please post the specifications of the memory modules you have.

Ok, ttried just one stick and got the message but then it allowed me to load OS.

 

It's showing 2G under system properties.

 

However it is spaztically flashing a "preparing to install" prompt but then it stops.

I restarted and it still does this.

 

Should I try the second one?

 

Specs for one stick: 2GB DDR-II 800MHz

Both sticks are exactly the same? Post the Brand and any other reference.

Yes the same

2 x 2 GB 800 sodimm Lattitude.

No brand name on sticks.
Sold to me by Blazing Trade Inc, Calvin and Hobbs

Are you replacing the memory installed on the machine?

 

How about the specs of the original memory?

 

According to the Crucial page http://www.crucial.c...//latitude-d620the recommended memory is DDR2 PC2-5300 667Mhz

Memory: Min: 512MB DDR2 shared 533 or 667MHz
                  Max: 4GB DDR2 shared 533 or 667MHz

Just for testing try with one of 2GB + 1GB.
