Can't get to this on my Win 10 laptop at all right now.

Is that true in other browsers as well ?

I noticed that Greenfelt had server problems on 9/13/2016

From the Greenfelt site

Our aging server stopped working last night at about 7pm. We couldn’t fix it remotely so we had to ask someone in the datacenter where the server lives to hard reboot the machine for us.

Does this correlate to the time that you started having problems ?

Yes, IE and Firefox are all having issues.  Firefox says Server not found.  IE says IE cannot display the web page.  I tried a variety of sites on all three.

Are these all with wireless connection ?

Should we try a direct connection using an Ethernet cable ?

Great idea.  I am having no problems connected to the router with an ethernet cable.

Now what?

I can't do anything right now as I am off to work. It sounds like a possible network adapter issue. I think this is your adapter

Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter

You can find that in device manger under the network tab, right click on Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter choose uninstall and reboot.

Sorry as i am hurrying for work and i will provide better instruction if needed.

This may help or may not

Thanks Joe.  I have done as you said and so far, so good.  But we'll wait and see, right?

Now, can you fix my cable dvr?  ;)

LOL, the Charter cable tech was here about a month ago.  Since he left the dvr no longer displays the time (when the TV is off) and many of the channels in the guide read "To Be Announced".  I'm thinking the dvr has gone bad.

Here's what everyone says from charter forum

After a reboot, that means just up plugging the dvr box for a min or so, then re-plug in then:
"Give it a total of 24 hours, if still showing to be announced its a bad box call back and setup a trouble call."

I'm sure you have done that 6 times already :)

Hi Joe!  This morning the message has changed.  I think it has to do with the slow speed of Chrome on my laptop.  IE and Firefox are the same..  Very pokey.

This site can't be reached ... The connection was reset.  And then it opens the page.

or

This site can't be reached   (site).com's server DNS address could not be found.

This is happening on the wireless connection ?

Perhaps we should reinstall Chrome. I've done everything with Chrome that I can think of. I can't explain just yet why all browsers are running slow either.

Re-install Chrome

If you have bookmarks, let's save them by exporting them - Export Bookmarks
1. Now we need to uninstall chrome via control panel .
Note: When asked about user data or settings you must remove this also so please check the box.
2. Restart the computer and reinstall chrome, You can download The latest version from here - Google Chrome
3. Import your bookmarks back into Chrome
4. Sign back in to your Chrome browser so that your bookmarks sync with your online account.

I understand.  Interestingly, I've not had the issue again in my travels this week. I've used no fewer than 4 other networks.  No issues. I'll be contacting Charter when I get home it it continues.

I cannot thank you enough for all your help!

You're welcome.

I thought it might be Charter and was sure you would reach that conclusion too. Let me know how things go with them. I'll leave this topic open for a while.

Thanks
Joe :)
