Hi,

I have an Aoc AEGON 1440p 144hz monitor and found that I turned it on today and the monitor has a vertical line of pixels all the way from top to bottom that are permanently blue.. It I unplug the display port cable or change the input selector the blue line stays on display. If however I wiggle the power cable in the monitor the line on screen goes for a good few hours then reappears later.

Hello,

Sounds like A "stuck sub-pixel"

A stuck sub-pixel is a pixel that is always "on". This is usually caused by a transistor that is not getting any power, and is therefore continuously allowing light at that point to pass through to the RGB layer. This means that any given pixel will stay red, blue, or green, and will not change when attempting to display an image. These pixels may only show up using certain applications, or they may be on all of the time.

Can you try another monitor ?

How old is that monitor ?

Thank you for the prompt response, monitor is brand new few days old. I'm concerned the supplier will not experience the issue as it seems intermittent and tinkering with the power plug/jack.. Giving it a wiggle in the socket fixes the issue until it happens again.

Then is sounds like a bad connection point to the motherboard or the Graphics card or the cable itself.

Does the old monitor work that you replaced this one for ?

What are you connecting to a Desktop ?

Could it be worth replacing the display port cable first? I have a 4k which is fine and this one which has the blue line intermittently I didn't think it would be my computer as disconnecting it completely from my Computer but turning on the monitor with the power switch still shows the blue line

Hello

disconnecting it completely from my Computer but turning on the monitor with the power switch still shows the blue line

Then I'd have to guess the monitor is bad if it still exhibits a problem being disconnected from the computer. I can't explain why the problem goes away when you wiggle the connection when it's connected to the computer. That's an odd one.

Yes you could try the display port cable first.

It doesn't have to be connected to the pc when I wiggle the power cable. It just needs to be switched on regardless of whether the computer is also switched on. The blue line displays until I touch the power pin that's connected between the monitor power jack and the power brick then it's fine for the session

OK. I'm having a hard time picturing the exact connection type, but if there is a cable that you can be replaced that's where to start.

I googled the problem to see if anyone else is experiencing the issue but did not see anything.

OK this is the image with nothing other than the power cable plugged into the monitor

If I wiggle the power cable.. The blue line goes for a while then returns and I must wiggle the power cable again to resolve

Hello,

You need to take this back since it's bran new, it could be a loose connector at monitor of which I don't know how to fix, or replace the power cable, from my experience i would be more prone to thinks it's the connector at monitor.

Can you take it back or at least call them ?

Thank you zep, I thought it could be something to do with the power but with it being intermittent I was worried it may be something that I was doing wrong, I'm now confident the issue needs to be resolved by returning to where I purchased the monitor from unfortunately.
Will let know know how I get on, thanks for your help!

You're welcome...

Nice monitor, I hate when that stuff happens and you have to take things back...

Hello Joe, I contacted the supplier and they were happy to return it for testing. Will let you know how that goes. It's a very nice monitor, first time I tried 144hz which is a different experience to 60hz games and desktop feel much more responsive.
Looking forward to getting it back fully working..
