Hello,
I need some help cleaning up my computer. Right now, for anti-virus software, I have Avast. It seems to detect a virus everytime I run it. In my vault I have files like rdriv.sys (one that appears the most), I have taskmngr.exe, wm.exe, wmisg.exe, and a bunch of A000xxxxx.sys, where the x are different numbers. On a separate board, when I was requesting help, I downloaded Ad-Aware from Lavasoft, SpyWareGuard, Spybot S&D, and a few more. What I want to do is get another good anti-virus program and try to remove all the viruses completely, and stop them from coming back in. Any help is greatly appreciated, let me know what you need me to do or post, and I will do so. Thanks a bunch for viewing,
Pat - Colorado, USA

Hello and welcome to Geeks to Go! :tazz: I'm kool808.
  • Please Download the stand-alone version of CoolWebShredder , Extract it & run the program. Click the Check for Updates, download if there is available, then click Fix ->.
  • Download and install Cleanup, then run.
Even the best antispyware programs are only able to remove about 70% of infections. Also, the line between spyware and trojans is getting blurred. You can never be too careful with these, I recommend at least one online scan.

Now, REBOOT in Normal Mode and have an On-line scan at this sites: Trend Micro or Panda Scan or BitDefender.

REBOOT again.
Then we'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool HiJackThis and post a log as a new topic in the Malware Removal Forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

I have CCleaner on my computer, and I have HJT on here as well. I have Avast for my antivirus, but it doesnt seem to be protecting me too well. For spyware, I have Ad-Aware from Lavasoft, SpywareGuard for blocking, Spyboy S&D, and maybe 1 more. I will go post my HJT log in that forum.
