Hello People!

I currently have an HP Laptop EliteBook 8730w. I have had it for a number of years and it has worked exceptionally well for me.

In the last few weeks and months there have been a few strange messages regarding the graphics card, and some instances of black screens.

one of the messages that popped up was

'Display driver stopped responding and has recovered'

Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, version 275.33 stopped responding and has successfully recovered'

The latest message that popped up today said

'The NVIDIA OpenGL driver detected a problem with the displaydriver and is unable to continue. The application must close.

Please visit http://www.nvidia.co...ge/support.html for help.

Error code 4'

I do 3D modelling on the laptop with a variety of software and had recently installed the latest Sketchup software.

I am not sure how long graphics cards are meant to last and if its a serviceable or replaceable part. If it is easily replaceable what recommendations would be advisable for this machine?

I desperately don't want to have to replace the whole thing as I think it is still a very good machine, and I cant afford to replace...;-)

Any help gratefully received!

Thanks

Hello londonkj,

With any luck this is only a driver issue, what OS are you running. Vista, 7, 8.1 or 10.

Create a new system restore point then try the Nvidea driver auto detect tool to see if it recommends a newer driver, see here

Gday Folks.

As the OS was updated, suggest you check to see if all Intel drivers are up to date.
