Hello,

I having a problem with Windows 10 on a computer that is about six months old.  The computer is a HP Pavilion 550-127c, 8GB RAM with an AMD A10-7800.  This is my mom's computer, so I am not familiar with Windows 10.

The problem is that I am trying to install Mozilla Firefox onto her computer, because she is having problems with Internet Explorer, and it will not install or run the Firefox program. A window opens up and asks "how do you want to open this file".  None of the choices are the correct choices.  This has also happened with Chrome and other programs with the .exe extension.

Thanks for any help.

Hello,

Sounds like the exe file association is broken and windows does not know what to do with any exe extension.

To fix the association see here,

http://www.thewindow...-windows-10-8-7

Fix the exe file association.
