Hi guys

Right, I bought a custom built PC 6 month ago and recently had problems with the graphics card, I got in touch with the guys I bought it from and they are going to replace it, whilst trying to get the PC working before I knew it was the graphics card, windows 10 seemed to be having trouble booting up, I did a system restore wiping all files from the PC, now it boots so far and tells me to restart as windows installation could not proceed.

Sounds more like you reset Windows 10 as opposed to used a system restore point, a system restore point allows you to select a time and date that is before you started having a particular problem whereas a Windows 10 reset is intended to reinstall a clean version of Windows 10 wiping all personal data and installed apps in the process.

 

Did the computer ship with Windows 10 or did you upgrade to Windows 10 from an earlier OS such as Windows 7 or 8.1.

Sorry yeh that's what I did, and yeh it came with windows 10 installed.

Phone the store and ask them if they installed a recovery partition on the HDD and if so how to access it, may be worth checking any paperwork that came with the PC in case the info is already available, alternatively you can download a Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft and do a clean install of Windows 10, see option one guide here

Got it working thanks! Now I might reinstall the graphics card as I noticed it wasn't clipped in completely when I removed it, fingers crossed.

That was lucky but not the cause of the issue as if the card was not seated properly you would not get any display to be able to see the "restart as windows installation could not proceed" message,

Well...it worked for about 2 days and then started up again, thought it may be a conflict with the GTX 750ti and windows 10 as I'd seen online but I fear it may be fooked.
