So, hi. This is my first time posting so please excuse any and all faux pas.

For the past 2 or so weeks, I've been struggling with youtube, 8tracks and various *other* video streaming sites. I have no cooking clue why. When I say struggle, the video will play for 30-60s then have to buffer. If I pause the video to buffer, it will but as soon as I press play again, the buffering amount disappears and I get the silly loading circle. And this happens until I get cross and exit.

I have updated my drivers, searched for malware using various tools, I have asked my housemates to sit in my room and connect to the wifi to see if distance from the router is the issue, I have hacked the house's router to give my laptop priority, I have sat next to the router, I have cleared my history and cookies and the likes, I have tried different sites, I have tried different web browsers and the updated versions at that, my laptop is about a year old, I treat it well, I have antivirus and adblock and scan and clean and delete regularly. I just do not know what is going on?!?!?! And I'm highly frustrated.

Is there something I'm missing?

I wouldn't say I'm a computer pro or anything but if I have instructions, I can and will follow them.

Please can anyone advice me on how to proceed before I do something irrational....

Uncapped

Download speed is 2.3 Mbps

Upload speed is 139 Kbps

Then the auto test says 3.4 Mbps for download and 251 Kbps

But the thing that bothers me is there as been absolutely no changes. To anything. My owners are with it enough to know that students need decent internet but they have no clue how to fiddle with it or limit it. So I'm not sure how it can go from 100% perfect to terrible overnight...

This speed is very low for streamiming. If someone else has been added to the connection that is where your problem lyes. Now is this the speed the owners are paying for or is it higher? If the ISP is providing 10 mbs and you are getting 2.3 mbs we need to run a test to see if the router is performing like it should. You are using WiFi or are you using a wired connection?

Can you connect directly to the source? What i mean is take the cable that runs from the modem to the router and connect it to your PC.( modem to PC ) Then take anouther speed test and let us know.
