I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop. (Not sure what series)

Around 3 months ago, my hard drive gave up and I bought an identical one.

After reinstalling everything it has been working great since.

Now I turn on the laptop and I get a 'PXE - E61: Media Test Failure, check cable' fault.

I went into the bios and looked at the boot sequence.

My HDD was the last device on the list. (I don't know how this happened)

I moved the HDD to the top of the list.

Now when I boot up, I get a flashing curser in the top left of the screen and nothing else.

The machine just hangs there.

I have removed the HDD and reinserted it again.

This made no difference.

I have removed the HDD and attached this to my desktop PC and can view all the files on the HDD so the drive appears to be working ok.

When I put it back on the laptop, the same issue persists.

Any help and advice please?

Thank you.

:welcome:   Goodbhoy,

Have you gone back into the BIOS to make sure that the HDD is still the first boot device.

What OS are you running.
