:welcome:   compidiot89,

If me I would purchase the Lenovo, the CPU is not as fast as that in the HP but the Lenovo computer does have the following over the HP.

Quad core CPU which is better for multitasking.

Better graphics from the CPU.

8GB of RAM, considered the sweet spot for a 64-bit OS + more RAM available to support the graphics quality provided by the CPU and good to have for Photoshop etc.

A 4 cell battery, should last longer than the 3 cell battery of the HP.

Hope the above helps, any questions let us know and likewise let us know what you decide on and if you are happy with the purchase.

Thanks for the info... it really helped (honestly it really did)

i went back to look at the 2 machines, and i stumbled upon this one...

its only $6 more than the other two $455 v $449

and its the best of both worlds.

Lenovo, Intel Core i5, 8gb ram, 3 mb cache, etc etc

i dont see why i wouldnt buy this machine.  seems like it takes all the best from both and combine into 1 for only $6 more

You are welcome compidiot89  :)

If you check your link it is saying sold out but found the model here

Final choice is yours but if me the less expensive AMD Lenovo would be my choice.

not all i5's are equal.

http://www.bestbuy.c...p?skuId=5657867

this one has an i5 7200u cpu with hd620 graphics (7th gen kaby lake) which is newer/better than the i5 6200u cpu with hd 520 graphics (6th gen skylake) in this one :- http://www.bestbuy.c...p?skuId=5613401

even though the amd has 4 real cores both i5's listed with 2 cores and 4 threads are faster/better than the a8 cpu according to benchmarks.

so my personal choice would be this :- http://www.bestbuy.c...p?skuId=5657867

something else to consider from what i can see is only this http://www.bestbuy.c...p?skuId=5657867has a built in dvd drive but the other two have built in bluetooth capabilites.

passmark score for a8-7410 :- https://cpubenchmark...410 APU&id=2537

passmark score for i5-7200u :- http://www.cpubenchm...2.50GHz&id=2865

and finally a review of similar laptops but one with the amd cpu and one with the i5-6200u :- http://laptopmedia.c...l_performance-2

laptop cpu ranking :- http://laptopmedia.c...op-cpu-ranking/
