Hi,

Can't install mcvs 2015 and can't update after cloning hdd on windows VISTA home premium 64bit. It won't update.

mcvs 2015 partially installs with error. The last nvida display driver was may 2016 for vista. Do I really need to upgrade to windows 7 and pay for windows 7 OS again? It won't update either.  Thank you

Ok here comes the problems.  installer encountered an error : 0xc8000247    on System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista for x64-based systems (KB947821)

https://www.microsof...ils.aspx?id=504

I didn't try the 2nd one. It seems there is a missing file lost when I cloned the hdd...but that is a guess.

I have seen this cbs file I think, but forgot how I did it. And it won't let me copy it or view it directly.

Here is the cmd which I ran before many times.

It was on a youtube video that I was following that let me view this CBS file, but I forget which one.

Sorry I took so long to read your post. Ok from what I see is I need to buy windows 7 and then install it which will wipe everything out. Unless I grab sp1 or sp2 only from the file. Is that what their saying to just install sp1 or sp2 only?  Thx

I'm sorry for late reply i was very busy. You can follow below instructions to repair install Windows Vista.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista

Thank you for your time. :-) To solve this issue, I think I need to install windows 7.  I lost the DVD with vista on it. So it's almost time to retire that computer. Because I need Cuda 9.1 toolkit to install on it with the latest nvidia drivers.
