How to transfer downloaded music files to my MP4 player?

I have downloaded various music files to my Windows 10 downloaded folder. Some of these transfer smoothly to my MP4 player. Others do not, even tho I drag them to the MP4 player(F Drive). They look like they moved, but the highlighted block screen shows the same MB number as before. In other words, nothing moved.The downloaded files, BTW, are(theoretically) in MP3 or 4 format...
