Hi,

I came across a blog on converting the old telephone booths to Wi-Fi hotspots. Rather than throwing them out in the junkyard, the NY city authority  decided to make Free Wi-Fi hub. It is an interesting implementation of free internet to all campaign.  They called it Sidewalk labs. It also got a USB port which allows you to charge your smartphone.

You can read bout it in the blog https://www.acanac.c...d-is-new-again/

What are your thoughts on this? Anybody knows of new plans like these in their areas?

It might be a good use of old equipment. At least people can connect to the internet.

It's a really nice idea especially the charge point could charge all my portable usb batteries on it.

I wonder if they can clone your phone while it charges lol It would be fun to plug a phone in on it and see what information if any is transferred.
