Help please with using Cortana on a W10 desktop to set an alarm.

Sometimes when I click Cortana (the circle symbol in the start tray, to the right of the Windows icon) I get a Cortana screen with an “ask me anything” box at the bottom. When I enter “Wake me in 5 minutes.” in that box I do get a beep in 5 minutes.

But other times, instead of that Cortana screen; I get a Bing page with “Wake me in 5 minutes.” in the Search Box; and I do not get an alarm in 5 minutes.

What am I doing wrong here? How should I be using Cortana for alarms? Is Cortana to be used only in mobile devices? Is there a better app i should be using to set simple alarms?

Thanks. … batpark

zep516: Thanks for your suggestion. The article you referenced appears to be exactly what I needed. But, when I try to apply what it says things do not work out as described.

When I ask Cortina "Wake me in 1 minute.", I get a "Cortina is thinking" screen and the alarm, in fact, sounds in 1 minute. But when I ask Cortina "Wake me in 2 minutes." I do not get the "Cortina is thinking" screen. Instead I get a Bing search page with "Wake me in 2 minutes." inserted into the Search window. And the alarm does not sound in two minutes.

A puzzlement. ... batpark
