Hi,

I'm having trouble with this "please wait while a connection is being established" white screen. I've tried starting computer in a safe mode with networking but I'm always stuck when I try Ctrl+Alt+Del to show the Task Manager which can not load, therefore I can't run Registry Editor.

Can anybody help me, please?

I have HP ProBook 6550b and Windows Vista.

See if you can download and run any or all of the following:

Download : ADWCleaner to your desktop.  Make sure you get the correct Download button.  Sometimes the ads on BleepingComputer will mimic the real Download button which should say: Download Now @BleepingComputer

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading, click on the warning and allow the download to complete.

Close  all programs, pause your anti-virus and run AdwCleaner (Vista or Win 7 => right click and Run As Administrator).

scan-results.jpg

Click on Scan  and follow the prompts. Let it run unhindered. When done, click on the Clean button, and follow the prompts. Allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report. Copy & Paste this report on your next reply.

The report will be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

Junkware-Removal-Tool

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.  Make sure you get the correct Download button.  Sometimes the ads on BleepingComputer will mimic the real Download button which should say: Download Now @Author's site
  • Pause your anti-virus.  Close all browsers.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
  •

    •

  • Get FRST from
  • You need to download the appropriate tool for your PC.  If you don't know if you have a 32 or 64 bit system get them both.  Only one will work and that's the right one.

  • Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Check the Addition.txt box
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste log back here.
  • It will generate another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.

I haven't updated this in a while but see if any of it helps.  Things in bold are only good on Vista & better.

In IE,  Files, uncheck Work Offline.  Restart IE and test.  If still no good:

In IE,  Gear icon (Tools), Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings, then uncheck all boxes and OK. Close IE and restart IE.  (If IE won't come up you can get to the same place with Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings,...)

In FireFox,  three horizontal lines icon, Options, Advanced, Network, Settings, check No Proxy then OK.  Close Firefox and restart Firefox.

In Chrome, three horizontal lines icon, Settings, Show Advanced Settings, Network, Change Proxy Settings, Lan Settings,  uncheck all boxes, OK.  Use IE's settings

Restart and test. If still no good:

Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt.  Type with an Enter after each line in the code box:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    netsh  winsock  reset catalog

    netsh int ipv4 reset %userprofile%\Desktop\reset4.log
    netsh int ipv6 reset %userprofile%\Desktop\reset6.log

    NetSH WinHTTP reset proxy

(I use two spaces in the code box so you will be sure to see where 1 space goes.)

Reboot and test.  If it still doesn't work:

       1. Click "Start," click "Control Panel," click "Network and Internet Connections," and then click "Network Connections."
       2. Right-click the network connection that you want to configure (the one you use to connect to the Internet), and then click Properties.
       3. On the General tab (for a local area connection), or the Networking tab (for all other connections), click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", and then click "Properties."

       4. Click "Use the following DNS server addresses," and then type 8.8.8.8 in the Preferred DNS server and 4.2.2.1 in the Alternate DNS server boxes.

       5.  Click "OK"

Reboot and test.  If it still doesn't work:

(Start) Right click on My Computer, select Manage then Device Manager.  Find the Network Adapters and click on the + in front to open up the sub entries.  Right click on each sun-entry under Network Adapters and Uninstall.  (Doesn't hurt to write down the names in case you need to download the drivers from the PC Maker's website.  Normally you don't but with malware you never know.)  Reboot  and test.  If it still doesn't work:

Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt.  Type with an Enter after each line in the code box:

    ipconfig  /all
    ipconfig  /release
    ipconfig  /renew
    ipconfig  /all

Report any errors you get and the IP addresses of the last ipconfig /all
