No.  While it's running the disk check that's all it can do.  There no hurry on it so you can wait and let it run tonight while you sleep. (Mute the speakers so it doesn't wake you when windows boots.)  Probably take 2-3 hours to complete.

Sorry for the dumb question. My bad. I hadn't read the link you gave me yet. I will be running this tonight when I go to bed. I had to run down a lot of Google maps today and that took quite some time. It was much easier to use my laptop for that than my tablet. I will also be working a very long day tomorrow, possibly 16 hours so, I may not post results until late or Wednesday. Thanks.

It doesn't look like sfc's failure is very important.  Looks like a printer driver of some sort.

See if sfcfix helps:

I ran sfc fix and it indicated there were no major problems but that one fix had been made.  Here is the logfile:Attached File  SFCFix.txt   1.23KB   15 downloads

I've seen a lot of improvement so far.

Thanks.

sfcfix claims it fixed the item that sfc was complaining about and that it used dism to do it.

Can you try a different dism?  Just want to see if it will run OK.  This one doesn't fix anything.  Just looks to see if it needs fixing.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

OK.  I ran that particular DISM line and when it finished @ 100% it said:

"The component store is repairable"

"The operation completed successfully"

Does that mean DISM is working now?

At least that part of dism is working.  Have you tried the other command since we ran sfcfix?

DISM  /Online  /Cleanup-Image  /RestoreHealth

DISM still isn't working.  I ran the command and it doesn't run.  Same message as always.

The computer overall is working much better.  The DISM, however, is still not working.  Here is the log:

Thanks.

Hi, RKinner,

It's been a few days since I've gotten a response here.  I was just wondering where we are at with things here.  Is there anything else we need to do or is everything looking good now?

Thanks.

Sorry for the delay.  Missed your post somehow.

If it's working good enough we can stop now or we can continue with the instructions in Reply #10 on

When following the instructions at the link you gave me, I get an error message saying "Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again."
