Dear All,

We moved to a different ISP so i had to re-configure the EDIMAX which was set up as a repeater and used to work great. Now for some reason i wasn't able to do that..

The weird thing is, it was working for few seconds and then the signal was lost (you were able to connect to the EDIMAX repeater but there was no internet.

Below are some of the configurations that i made which i think might be the cause:

1. I set up the EDIMAX repeater with IP that end with 200 (192.168.1.200). The reason i did it was because know that if the main router is modem-router, this is the IP i should configure.

2. I was told not to set up encryption WPA2-PSK AES as it is "problematic" but it was my only choice as the main router (D-link DSL-225) doesn't support WEP encryption. I don't want of-course to just leave it open.

3. I disabled DHCP because the instructions asked for it but i'm not sure it was the correct way to go.

That's it basically. I will try to play with it a bit more but if someone can assist me to get this done better and faster I WILL APPRECIATE IT A LOT  :spoton:

If i will be able to solve it (i doubt it though), i will write what was done here.

Thank you very much!

Do you have a link to the instructions you are using?

Can you explain exactly what you are trying to do with  the EDIMAX?

What is the make and model number of the main router?

Hi

What is the make and model number of the main router?

Repeater is EDIMAX model BR-6524n.

Main modem-router is D-link model DSL-22.

Do you have a link to the instructions you are using?

I'm using a video in Hebrew so i doubt it will help you in any way  :D but this is the link http://www.pikok.co....cces-point.html. It is a general instructions to setup the EDIMAX as a repeater (not related to the mainmodem-router i am using).

Can you explain exactly what you are trying to do with  the EDIMAX?

Set it up as Access Poinr/Repeater so there will be WIFI available anywhere at home.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!

OK.  I was a bit confused since I have an Edimax but mine is just a wireless adapter.

The video was quite helpful since the router options are in English and I never turn the sound on anyway.

Are we working with a PC (what version of windows) or a MAC?  I just ask because if we need to run some tests it helps to know what we are working with.

Can you verify the IP address, SSID & Channel Number of your main router?  Default Ip address is 192.168.1.1 and user/password is admin/admin or user/user or some combinaton there of per the manual.

Note:  Make sure you change the Channel Assignment option to Manual from Automatic as this could cause your reported problem if the main router decides to use another channel when it sees your Edimax come on line.

Page 44 of http://www.ng1000942...327_G_Bezeq.pdfshows how to set the channel.  Looks like you use the arrow to the right of Channel:  to pull up a drop down menu that probaly has Auto at the top and then a list of channel numbers.  Set it to the same as you have configured in your Edimax.

You may find that the channel you are using is not the best.  Most routers do not really do a good job of setting the best channel.

A program called inSSIDer is very handy if you have a PC.

Download inssider

Double click to install it. Then run it by right click and Run As Admni.

It will show you a graph in the bottom right that has your signal in blue and competing signals in orange and yellow.  It may also recommend a different channel which might have less interference.

Moving to a different channel (by logging on to your router) can drastically improve performance.  I like to use

Speedtest.net

Go to http://www.speedtest.net/and click on Begin Test

Are you getting about what you pay for?

Thank you very much for your help @Rkinner!
