Hello and Welcome

There are a number of options we can use in this situation. Firstly, please make sure you have the latest definition file: SE1R50 13.06.2005

We highly suggest doing a Disk Defragmentation and follow it with a thorough Check or Scan Disk, depending upon your version of Windows.

You could try scanning in: Safe mode

Another option is to try a command line:
1. Click "Start" > select "Run" > type the text shown in bold below (including the quotation marks and with the same spacing as shown)

"C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\Ad-Aware.exe" +procnuke

Click OK.

Please note that the path above is of the default installion location for Ad-aware SE, if this is different, please adjust it to the location that you have installed it to.

2. When the scan has completed, select Next.
3. In the Scanning Results window, select the "Scan Summary" tab.
4. Check the box next to each "target family" you wish to remove.
5. Click next, Click OK.

If you still have a problem, cancel BEFORE the scan reaches the point of stalling -- say after 20 objects are detected. Then click cancel and click on the logfile. Remove any objects you choose and rescan. Again stop the scan before it reaches the point of stalling and remove any additional objects. Then try a full scan without stopping it.

Please let us know how you make out and which option worked.

All the best

Andy

I have the latest updates, i optimized my system and ad-aware runs in safe mode. I also tried the procnuke option, but no result. I wanted to know if there's any chance for this software to run in normal mode.

Thanks!

Did Ad-aware freeze wilst scanning in safe mode?

Try not running it in normal mode?

(The program should normally be able to run in normal mode windows)

My ad-aware se runs perfectly in safe mode, but it won't run in normal mode. Is it possibly for mcafee security suite to block ad-aware se?

Has the scan moved to a different place whilst scanning, since scanning in safe mode?

Mc Afee should not block Ad-aware. The program should not conflict in anyway.

Yes. While in safe mode i'm able to do both smart scan and full system scan. My question though remains the same: is there any way to perform an ad-aware scan while in normal mode? I got tired to constantly booting in safe mode
for an antispyware detection.
Is there an explanation for this happening? Could a certain spyware block ad-aware se?

Thanks!

Some versions of CWS block Ad-aware from running, but these are not the symptons.

Ad-aware should be able to run in normal mode windows.

Does it still freeze?

Does Ad-aware find anything?

Did you try all the above suggestions?

Ad-aware Cloak is designed to allow Ad-aware to open fully when there are items on the system which close Ad-aware when it attempts to start, such as some CoolWebSearch variants.

To use Ad-aware Cloak, save it to your system, and run the program before opening Ad-aware. Once Ad-aware Cloak opens, click "Activate Cloak" and then open Ad-aware and scan as normal. When you are done using Ad-aware, close Ad-aware Cloak.

Ad-aware Cloak is designed to allow Ad-aware to scan....

You do not have this varient as your Ad-aware does not automatically close....

It freezes.

If possible please could you ask my above questions in my post before

Thanks :tazz:
