Dell doesn't support your PC for Win 10 so we are going to have to try different Broadcom drivers and see if we can find one that works.  To make matters worse some of the newer Broadcom drivers have problems and will just stop working.  Let's get the original driver from Dell first so we have something to fall back on.

We want to download and save the Broadcom  the one we downloaded BCM57788 LOM , v.12.2.2.2, A00 which you can get on

http://www.dell.com/...vers?DCP=DNDTAG

Once at the page, click on

Find it Myself

then on

Browse all drivers for Inspiron 570

then click on

Network and you should see the driver.

Click on its download button.

Now go in to Device Manager

(Search for

device manager

and hit Enter.)

Find your network Adapter again and right click and select Properties then on the Driver tab.  It should tell you the Driver Date: and Driver Version:

Please tell me the date and version so I know where we are.

If this is older than 07 Jul 2012  (the one we downloaded)

you can try installing the driver we downloaded.

If it's older it probably won't help.  Try this one:

http://www.dell.com/...?driverid=03WCP

Broadcom BCM57788 LOM, v.14.2.0.7, A00

This one is from 03 Nov 2011

If your current driver is newer you will need to go in to device manager and right click on the Broadcom driver and uninstall.  It usually asks you if you want to remove the drivers too.  Tell it yes.

 Reboot.

Now right click on your downloaded driver and Run As Admin.  Let it install.

Reboot.

If the adapter works (go back in to Device manager and make sure there is no yellow flag and look on the Driver tab to make sure you now have a different version and date than before.)  Then start process Explorer and look to see if there is any improvement in Interrupts.

Provider:  Broadcom Corporation

File Version:  15.6.1.3

Copyright:  2000-2011

Digital Signer:  Microsoft

Do you want me to proceed with the next step after this info OR wait for different suggestions?

For 2-3 days I have noticed NO interruptions in the screen saver.  It is moving with no freezing whatsover and when I move my mouse, the screen saver is removed and all things seem back to normal.

If you are happy with it we can stop now.  I think it would be a lot faster with a different driver but eventually one hopes that Broadcom will get their act together and it will get fixed.

To delete the Quarantine Folder used by FRST create a fixlist.txt file with just the following line:

DeleteQuarantine:

Save the fixlist.txt to the same folder as FRST then run FRST and hit Fix.  You can easily delete any other folders and logs.

If we installed Speccy it needs to be uninstalled.  Process Explorer, VEW, AdwCleaner, JRT  and their logs and Speccy's log can just be deleted.

Also make sure you have the latest versions of any adobe.com products you use like Shockwave, Flash or Acrobat.  Flash is now the most malware targeted program so it must be kept up to date.  Be careful with Adobe.  They are fond of offering optional downloads like yahoo or Ask toolbars or that worthless McAfee Security Scan.  Go slow and uncheck the optional stuff.

Whether you use adobe reader, acrobat or fox-it to read pdf files you need to disable Javascript in the program.  There is an exploit out there now that can use it to get on your PC.  For Adobe Reader:  Start, All Programs, Adobe Reader, Edit, Preferences, Click on Javascript in the left column and uncheck Enable Acrobat Javascript.  OK Close program.  It's the same for Foxit reader except you uncheck Enable Javascript Actions.

If you use Chrome/Firefox/IE then get the AdBlock Plus Add-on.  Go to adblockplus.org with each browser and get the add-on.  (It's actually a program for IE)

If Chrome/Firefox is slow loading make sure it only has the current Java add-on.  Then download and run Speedy Fox.
http://www.crystalidea.com/speedyfox.  Close Chrome/Firefox/Skpe. Hit Optimize.   You can run it any time that Chrome/Firefox seems slow starting..

Be warned:  If you use Limewire, utorrent or any of the other P2P programs you will probably be coming back to the Malware Removal forum.  If you must use P2P then submit any files you get to http://virustotal.combeforeyou open them.

Due to a recent rise in the number of Crytolocker infections I am now recommending you install:

CryptoPrevent

The free version does not update on its own so you should check for updated versions once in a while. When you install it the default is NONE which is kind of worthless so change it to Standard or default. If you have problems after installing CryptoPrevent you can just uninstall it.

If you have a router, log on to it today and change the default password!  If using a Wireless router you really should be using encryption on the link.  Use the strongest (newest) encryption method that your router and PC wireless adapter support especially if you own a business.  See http://www.king5.com...0637284.htmlandhttp://www.seattlepi...ted-1344185.php for why encryption is important.  If you don't know how, visit the router maker's website.  They all have detailed step by step instructions or a wizard you can download.

Special note on Java.  Old Java versions should be removed after first clearing the Java Cache by following the instructions in:
Then remove the old versions by going to Control Panel, Programs and Features and Uninstall all Java programs which are not Java Version 7 update 25 or better.  These may call themselves: Java Runtime, Runtime Environment, Runtime, JRE, Java Virtual Machine, Virtual Machine, Java VM, JVM, VM, J2RE, J2SE.  Get the latest version from Java.com.  They will usually attempt to foist some garbage like the Ask toolbar, Yahoo toolbar or McAfee Security Scan on you as part of the download.  Just uncheck the garbage before the download (or install) starts.  If you use a 64-bit browser and want the 64-bit version of Java you need to use it to visit java.com.
Due to multiple security problems with Java we are now recommending that it not be installed unless you absolutely know you need it.  IF that is the case then go to Control Panel, Java, Security and slide it up to the highest level.  OK.

My help is free but if you wish to show your appreciation, please donate to Kwiaht instead of me. It's an Orcas Island environmental organization that I volunteered with: http://www.kwiaht.org/donate.htm
(The name means something like "clean place" in one of the local native-American dialects)

In your professional opinion, do you advise me to leave things as they are OR proceed with what you have suggested?  I really don't know what to do.  I do know, things are moving much faster and the issue(s) with the screen saver and the mouse are resolved.

I have been downloading songs from You Tube and putting them on a flash drive for my husband; do you think that is where I picked something up at?  Also, please explain to me, what we have done to resolve this issue.  I know I have provided you with logs and ran programs to allow you to see what is happening but what exactly has been done to improve things?

Thank you!

You had an infection as seen in your FRST log:

If you look at the above you will see a lot of randomly named and/or invlaid character files.  I finally managed to get FRST to remove all of it using the Fixlist.  That was what was slowing down things so much that you noticed it.

Now you just have a bad driver which causes high interrupts.  High interrupts can cause the video to stutter.  However, if it's not bothering you and the PC is working normally you probably want to leave it alone since you are not really comfortable with PCs.

One thing you can quickly try tho it will probably not find anything is to go back into Device Manager and right click on the Broadcom network Adapter and select Update Driver Software.  Windows will check on the Internet for a newer version.  Perhaps you will get lucky and it will find a newer version.

I think for right now, I will leave things as they are and IF I choose to make more changes, I will follow through with what you have told me to do. Thank you seems so small for ALL your help but it is really appreciated!

I don't know if you can help me with this or not but I will ask and if not, could you direct me to the right location...

My cousin has loaned me his copy of Corel Draw 7; on the CD it says, 1998 Compaq Computer Corp.  We were at his home last night and he is running Windows 10 and the program is on his computer.  I have tried at least 4 times to run the program and on the little bar where it shows the progression, it stops one bar short of completing the setup.  Last night, I waited nearly an hour and it never did complete.  Today, I contacted Corel and they told me, this program is not designed to run on Windows 10 (obsolete)  Is there a work around for this issue?

Thank you

Corel Draw 7 was released in 1997 and meant to run on Windows 95.  It's probably unrealistic to expect it to work on Win 10 but maybe this will help:  From
https://support.micr...s-compatibleRunthe Program Compatibility Troubleshooter

In the search box, type run programs.
Select Run programs made for previous versions of Windows, and then select Next.
Choose the program you want to fix. If you don't see the program in the list, select Not Listed.
Select Next, and then follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.
If the troubleshooter can't fix the problem, try changing compatibility settings manually.

Change compatibility settings manually

These steps will not work with apps that come with Windows, or with apps you get from the Windows Store.

In the search box, type the name of the program, right-click the search result, and select Open file location.
Right-click the program icon, select Properties, and then select the Compatibility tab.
Select one or more of the settings (see the table below for more info).
If you want to apply the settings for that program to all accounts on the PC, select Change settings for all users.
Administrator permission required You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
When you're done, select OK.

I was going back and looking at posts you have sent me and I must have overlooked this one...

Can you please explain to me once again how to create a fixlist by deleting the quarantine folder and add the following line.  Where do I add the line?

To delete the Quarantine Folder used by FRST create a fixlist.txt file with just the following line:

DeleteQuarantine:

Save the fixlist.txt to the same folder as FRST then run FRST and hit Fix.  You can easily delete any other folders and logs.

Open notepad.

type:

DeleteQuarantine:

Hit Enter once

File Save As

to the same place as Frst.  Call it fixlist
