I recently updated an end user's system from Win2k to WinXP, since the update the system will not read CDs that have had data burned to them. The green light flashes constantly and when you try to view the drive in Windows Explorer, the hour glass just sits there doing nothing. It will finally stop, but no files appear in Explorer. It reads intallation CDs, program CDs and everything else with no problem. I've read through many discussions here saying that XP has an issue reading UDF files and to install a 3rd party software for that. We already have Roxio Easy CD Creator installed, I've updated that to the latest patch with no luck. I have updated the CD driver and firmware. It is a Samsung sm-308b drive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

That is my next step, but if the drive was bad, wouldn't it then not read any type of CD?

well i know it reads a cd rom digital and analog differently.
if a diffrent drive has the same result (as the last drive), i would think its the upgrading (windows) processes screwed up somewhere.

One other quick note, this drive read data CDs with no problem when the system had Win2k installed on it, what would make it go bad just by changing the OS? Thanks!
