Best Answer Perkypetal , 25 January 2017 - 05:45 AM

I did as you suggested and changed the card first and thankfully it actually did work straight away. I just needed someone with a bit of knowhow to tell me it was ok to do it that way around.... Go to the full post »

I have a (2013) ADVENT PC - Model No DT2410  - came fitted with MSI H61M-P31 motherboard, AMD HD6670 2GB GDDR3 graphics card, and WINDOWS 8 - but has already been updated to WINDOWS 10.

Have now decided to upgrade the Graphics card to a GIGABYTE NVIDIA GTX 1060 WF2 6GB GDDR5 PCI-E - which I have already purchased and waiting to be installed.

My problem is this...... Apparently this PC model no. was fitted UEFI as it was Windows 8, and if I want to change the Graphics card to another it either has to be UEFI compatible (???)  or I need to update the BIOS first.

Have been onto Advent website, plus everywhere else I can think of to try and find a WORKING link but with no luck. As i'm not very computer savvy I'm now struggling with what to do next. Please, please, can anyone advise me.... Thanks

Gday  Perkypetal :welcome:

the GTX 1060 is UEFI compatible, the below article link for the BIOS update reads "Updated BIOS to support legacy graphics cards under UEFI "   Don't think it is required.   I would just swap the cards and test, checking that you have the correct PCI=E plug for the new card.   if it does not work. put the old card back in, then perform the update.
