Just to update you:

Hotmail and Amazon both work perfectly now, they used to direct me to the windowws.cc page. The Windows Update page still will not load.

Windows Media Player and System Restore still don't function as outlined in the original post. Have you any ideas on how to solve this?

I'm grateful for all your help, thank you. <_<

Hmm, correction. I thought Hotmail worked fine, but only the mailbox page loads up. I can't access any of the e-mails or follow any links from the site. <_<

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Let us know the results, and post a fresh log when finished. <_<

Housecall found two uncleanable trojans, so I used the option to delete them both.

Moosoft was clear.

Here's the latest log:

We're getting there. Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O12 - Plugin for .rip: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\nptmpt32.dll

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\nptmpt32.dll

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Are you Norton Antivirus definitions up-to-date?

I'm about out of ideas. <_< This is highly unusual.

Please Download CoolWebShredder, from http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=17 , Extract it & run the program. Click the Next Button & let it scan. Make sure you let it fix all CWS Remnants. Afterwards, Please Post a fresh Hijack This log.

Thanks to coachwife6 for this suggestion. <_<

cisvc.exe is a legitimate XP service, but it can also be the excutable for a key logging program. Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+K, and see if a new icon appears in your task bar. Also, search your hard drives for cisvc.txt (it's the keylogger output file).

Nothing happened when I hit that combination, unofrtunately. I found cisvc.exe in my system32 file, but not cisvc.txt. The windows search function also does not work, seemingly as a result of this problem.

It seems to be attacking javascript, I can't view pages which contain it.

Huge Update!! Everything seems to be working fine now. I downloaded some XP help file or other, that would supposedly help me fix the computer. However, it told me it couldn't find the script engine "VBScript." I fixed this by installing the latest VBScript from Microsoft and then ran the program. It informed me that it had fixed my registries, which were deleted when I ran "EasyCleaner."

Two questions,

1) Should I still run a System Restore, or should I cut my losses and stay with what I have, it seems to have no problems.

2) What is Easy Cleaner, and how can I avoid it in future?

Once again, thanks for all the help you both have given me, it was invaluable. I'd no doubt have shredded my computer to pieces with a machete of some sort had it not been for your kind intervention. <_<

1) If your system is working properly I wouldn't do a system restore.

2) I'm not familiar with Easy Cleaner, but it looks like it may be a shareware registry cleaner: http://www.shareware...asy_cleaner.htm
