Is there any way to bypass that... I don't like that it slows down because for some reason the laptop wont gain a charge unless it is completely shut off. It retains it's current charge at all times if on and charging. 80% stays at 80% indefinitely until turned off or unplugged. The problem with that is when playing a game for fun (because I need the charger unplugged) I would play until it's roughly 20%. But then I would need to charge it, which it has to be shut off in order to charge Any way to make it be at full processor speed while plugged in, or is this unchangeable until I get a new charger?

I don't know of it way to fix it.  Did you look at the center connector to make sure it's there?  I don't know if all HPs have them or just a few.

 

Normally it should charge when plugged up even if not on - perhaps yours is not putting out enough voltage?

I'll try my best to explain this. So, the laptop charges when turned off or put in sleep. Turning it on while it was charging results in it staying at the same charge indefinitely until unplugged or turned off. Unplugging the charger while the laptop is turned on makes it revert to it's normal speed. Putting it back in while turned on does nothing, it still loses a charge and does not inform me of it charging. I looked at the charger itself and there is a center connector. However, I peeked into the laptop hole itself and it appears there are supposed to be 4 pieces touching the connector piece when plugging it in. Three look to be in place, the top one seems bent and is poking upwards. I don't know if this is how it should be, but I assume the top piece should be towards the middle as the others. Could it be that my charger isn't to blame and rather it is the laptop connector instead?

 

Anyway, installing the intel dynamic platform doesn't seem to have done anything. I'll try buying a new charger soon.

Sounds like the charger may not be putting out enough current to run the PC and charge the battery at the same time.  What wattage is it?  

 

I would be careful with the fingers on the connector.  They can break off if bent too far.  I suppose it's possible that the loose fingers don't make a good enough connection and you are getting some volatge loss at the connector.  If that's the case tho the connector would probably get hot.

My best bet is probably to buy a charger first. I found a temporary solution. An application called throttlestop. I read it can really damage my pc with extended use so I won't use it much. I can charge while playing now, the charge still stays the same but the battery doesn't drop either. The processors get pretty hot though. With it turned on they get to around 55C playing a game. About 45C otherwise. Thanks for taking the time to help, I appreciate it

Sounds good.  55 isn't that bad for working under a load on a laptop.  Worry if it gets closer to 70
