It concerns an LG SH4 sound bar and a Samsung UE40H6240AW smart tv

I have a 1.4 HDMI ARC cable between the sound bar and the television, but it does not give me any result. If I go to the TV settings and Iselect Audio Out as a source (sound > speaker settings > source), but its still quiet, while I figure this should be the way to do it.. HDMI cable is in the OUT port of the sound bar. All equipment and cables support ARC.

When I plug my Xbox HDMI in the HDMI IN of my speaker and then use the same TV settings, the TV speakers are mute and the sound bar is on, like its supposed to be. But trying the same when watching regular TV does not work at all.

Many thanks

"HDMI cable is in the OUT port of the sound bar."

Insert the HDMI cable into the sound bar's IN port and try again.

if he wants to use arc then it needs to be in the "out" port as he's got it connected according to the sound bar's manual.

explaining arc and issues you might run into :- https://www.cnet.com...rn-channel-arc/

i read the manuals for both tv and sound bar but can't offer any advice, from my understanding connecting all devices to the tv and then connecting the hdmi cable from the arc hdmi port (think it's hdmi in 2) on the tv to the sound bar hdmi out should work, so only things i'd suggest is make sure it is the arc hdmi port on the tv that the sound bar out is connected to, try a different cable, experiment with different sound settings on the tv and volume levels with everything.

if it still doesn't work then i'd say there must be a hardware problem with either the tv or sound bar somewhere and both would need testing on other devices to know which was the cause of the problem.
