Hi buffalob and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. In addition to your Aurora problem, you have malware mixed into your internet connection. This we must remove right away.

Backup the registry by going to Start>Run> and type ‘regedit’ without the quotes. Then on the file menu choose ‘export’ in XP.

Download the LSPfix.txt and read the readme file.

Download LSPfix.zip or LSPfix.exe

***To start the LSPfix....Close all windows except LSPfix

Launch LSPfix.zip and install to its own folder, then click on LSPfix.exe. Or click on LSPfix.exe and it will launch the program.

In the left hand (keep) LSPfix window there will be a list of files including the identified *.dll files that are listed on the O10 line in the HJT log. These are:

aklsp.dll

Put a check mark in the box “I know what I am doing

Move all instances of the identified *.dll files that are listed on the O10 line, from the left window (keep) to the right window (remove) by highlighting the file or files and clicking the arrow.

Click ‘Finish

Now, using Windows Explorer, DELETE the following files:

c:\Windows\System32\aklsp.dll

REBOOT to complete the task.

Now Scan again with HijackThis (ALL windows closed except HJT) and POST a new log file in their thread using “Add Reply”.

Regards,

Trevuren

Thanks for your help.

I can't delete akslp.dll - I get an access denied, file is in use message.

I'm not sure if it matters, but my computer is networked.

PLease try the process again. I have never heard of it not working. Remember to move all instances of the file from the left hand panel to the right hand panel. All instances.

Let me make sure I'm doing it correctly. Now when I run LSP fix, only the following things show up in the left box:

mswsock.dll
winrnr.dll
rsvpsp.dll

I didn't move any to the right box because none of them show up on line O10 of my hjk log.

aklsp.dll is no longer there.

But when I go to windows/system32, akslp.dll is still there, and i get the "make sure disk is not write protected and file is not in use" message when I try to delete it.

OK, what you did was correct, apparently.

Reboot into Safe Mode and try to DELETE the file

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Before I read your response I rebooted normally and was able to delete the file. Right this second I don't have time to reboot and post a new HJK log, but I will try to tomorrow. Thanks.

I didn't delete the isrvs thing because I wasn't sure if it was okay to delete the whole archive it's in.

Thanks again for all your help.

EXCELLENT CLEANING JOB

1. Start by deleting that file. If it doesn't want to go de;ete later when you will be in Safe Mode.

2. Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: Band Class - {01F44A8A-8C97-4325-A378-76E68DC4AB2E} - C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {70EECA23-008B-07B4-F54B-C02D48754DE6} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\cdapp\fanerllpdf.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ztvtmcf] c:\windows\system32\zfarwl.exe
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.westlaw.com
O16 - DPF: {15AD6789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://static.windup...e/bridge-c8.cab
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and DELETE them (if they are present):

FILES

C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll
c:\windows\system32\zfarwl.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

FOLDERS (with all their content)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cdapp

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren

So far I'd have to say you're a genius. Anyway, I've deleted all the files that were still there. Here's another HJT log:

I just noticed that svcproc.exe is still showing up in the log. It wasn't there when I deleted the other files.

We must stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

1. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'

Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK

Click the Extended tab.

Scroll down until you find the service.

Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Click once on the service to highlight it.

Click Stop

Right-Click on the service.

Click on 'Properties'

Select the 'General' tab

Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box

From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'

Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'

The service is now stopped and disabled.

2. We will now delete the service:

1. Open HJT
2. Click on Config>>Misc Tools>>Delete an NT Service
3. Type SvcProc in the space provided and click OK
4. The program will ask you to REBOOT --- Accept

5. REBOOT into SAFE MODE

6. Using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following file (if it still is present):

C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

7. REBOOT back into Normal Mode

8. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Regards,

Trevuren

Trevuren:

I think you've got me straightened out - I'll post a final (hopefully) hjt log tomorrow. I made a small donation to your PayPal account. Thanks again.
