Why in the WORLD would you *need* that much RAM? I can see why you'd *want* that much...but come on guys...

Umm, aren't all Alienware systems wicked? 
They are also wickedly expensive. If you don't want to go through the trouble of building your own machine, or simply don't know how, I do highly recommend this company. However, if you can build your own...do it.
I configured an alienware system, just the tower, for close to three grand. I configured the same system; plus keyboard, mouse, 7.1 speaker package, and a 19" monitor with 8ms response time for only $2500.
The only thing the DIY system doesn't have is that really cool tower and an Alienware mouspad. Ha. I must also note, that when you purchase the Alienware system for $500 more, they are kind enough to throw in that free $5 T-Shirt.
I do love Alienware, but DIY is a bit cheaper.
