Hi BrianR1976

So it has been over a week since my last freeze. I think it is safe to call it fixed.

You don't need to do a thing once Cryptoprevent installed other than remember to open it up and manually update it say once a month. As soon as Cryptoprevent is installed the protection is in place. :)

Do you have any other questions? :)

I sill have a bunch of stuff left on my desktop: exe files, text files, and other random things. Is it safe to get rid of those?

I turned up an issue with one of the files you had me load. I went to open Spotify tonight and it seems that the Crypto program completely wiped it out and will not let me reinstall it to my computer. How do I fix that?

Hi BrianR1976

Spotify installs its exe in C:\Users\..\AppData\Roaming\Spotify, which is blocked by CryptoPrevent.
  • OPen Cryptoprevent and set the protection plan to None.
  • Click Apply Protection Plan.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Reinstall Spotify and leave Active.
  • Open Cryptoprevent again and set protection plan to Default.
  • Click Apply Protection Plan.
  • A message box will appear "Would you like to whitelist any items currently in blocked locations?" Click Yes to this.
  • Reboot the system.

This should now allow Spotify to run.

Let me know if this resolves your issue.

Did what you said and it never gave me the chance to whitelist Spotify.

Hi BrianR1976

Did you reinstall Spotify?
  • Right click on Cryptoprevent and click on Run As Administrator
  • Click on Policy Editor tab.
  • This will show the Whitelist policies in effect.
  • Check the list to see if c:\users\..\appdata\roaming\spotify\spotify.exe is on the list.
  • Click on Whitelist Executables Currently in All Blocked Locations.
  • A message box may appear "Would you like to whitelist any items currently in blocked locations?" Click No to this.
  • Click on Apply Protection Plan.

Then try to run the downloaded Spotify installation file again. This should create the Spotify desktop item and alllow Spotify to run.

Let me know how it goes. :)
