This (item A - DSC01572) is the first thing I see when I turn on my computer - just before the manufacturer's logo comes on

 

When I enter Configuration Utilities, this is what I see

 

I have run the Diagnostics and it says everything is working fine - no problem with any of the hardware. Some think the problem has to do with RAID. Perhaps the RAID on my computer failed, or something. I would appreciate any comment on my problem. For instance how to go about fixing the RAID problem or whatever issue might be happening with the computer.

 

FYI: I have not lost anything on the computer yet. The only problem I seem to be experiencing are occasional freezes and slowness.

Appears to me that you have two drives in a RAID 1 configuration using Intel Rapid Storage Technology and one drive has failed completely.  So you need to replace the bad drive (Currently a WD Blue 500GB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD5000AAKX) with a drive of the same capacity  then run verify and repair from All Programs, Intel, Intel Rapid Storage Technology   see http://www.intel.com..._user_guide.pdfPage 34.  You may not need to run it as it will probably do it automatically on the first boot after the Disk change.

Thanks so much for the response. The trouble is every test I have conducted tell me both drives are ok. Is there another way to tell which of the two disks is at fault?

You can go by the serial number of the drive.  It's a little hard for me to read the number but the RAID thinks the second one is dead.  You probably can't test it unless you unplug it from the RAID and either put it on a USB adapter or on an extra SATA port.
