Hi All,

i have a laptop (am a newbee here, so i cant give more detail other than below link )

while trying to upgrade my ram from 4 to 16 GB, my board got short circuited.

now i have to buy a new processor for this. my repair guy says he find only i3 processor in market. my lap originally had i5.

:welcome:   bsquare007,

Couple of important points to mention regarding the info in your OP;

while trying to upgrade my ram from 4 to 16 GB, my board got short circuited.

If your board got shorted out you will need a replacement.

The Intel Core i5-4210U processor that shipped with your computer is the ball grid array (BGA) type that are soldered into the socket in the MB, replacing or upgrading them is not a financially viable option and so you would be better off replacing either the notebook or a MB that shipped with the already upgraded CPU soldered in place.

Some info at the links for you to check;

The 4th generation Intel Core processor options that your computer originally shipped with;

Intel Core i5-4510U processor (2.0-GHz, 4-MB L2 cache, 1600-MHz DDR3L)** Unless I am mistaken the 4510U is an i7 CPU see here
Intel Core i5-4210U processor (1.7-GHz, 3-MB L2 cache, 1600-MHz DDR3L) The CPU that your computer shipped with read the FAQ section here
Intel Core i3-4030U processor (1.9-GHz, 3-MB L2 cache, 1600-MHz DDR3L)
Intel Core i3-4010U processor (1.7-GHz, 3-MB L2 cache, 1600-MHz DDR3L)
Intel Core i3-4005U processor (1.7-GHz, 3-MB L2 cache, 1600-MHz DDR3L)

Your notebook maintenance and service guide, see page 1 of the manual here
