I have a new-to-me laptop running on Windows 8.1

During my first attempts to install itunes (which I unfortunately really do need in order to sync/update my iphone), I kept getting error 45075, saying a required component had not be installed. I tried uninstalling and re-installing, changing the firewall settings, and repairing the install.

When none of that worked, I tried manually installing iTunes by using WinRAR. This works to a point, and I am able to play songs in iTunes. However, it freezes when I connect my iphone, or try to click on something like preferences, or basically do anything. I've tried all kinds of fixes I've found online, and uninstalled and re-installed several different ways, but nothing is working.

Although I have no idea if this is relevant, it may be helpful to know that I replaced the existing hard drive with a SSD.

Thanks in advance for the help!
