I've had our computer suddenly shut down with what I suspect is the BSOD.  Blue screen states if this is the first time restart but this has now happened three times.  How do I look for what may be the problem with the HD as it is pretty new.  It's a 1TG.  Thank you for any help and direction to remedy this issue.

Hello abrahams child,

1. Copy any dmp files from C:\Windows\Minidump onto the desktop.

2. Select all of them, right-click on one, and click on Send To> New Compressed (zipped) Folder.

3. Upload the zip folder using the More Reply Options tab, Choose File then the Attach This File tab., bottom left of the dialogue input box.

Only your last two crash dmps are of any use as the others are rather old (a couple are from December 2012  :o )

Looking at the crash dmps may give the impression that this is hardware related as in the CPU having issues but I suspect that Norton AV could be what is giving you problems, note the info that I have highlighted in red below,

Debug session time: Wed Apr 19 00:12:31.503 2017 (UTC - 4:00)

MP system within the allocated interval. This indicates that the specified
processor is hung and not processing interrupts.

Arg2: 0000000000000000, 0.
Arg3: fffff880009e7180, The PRCB address of the hung processor.
Arg4: 0000000000000001, 0.

BUGCHECK_STR:  CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT_2_PROC

DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID:  WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT

PROCESS_NAME:  svchost.exe

'IDSvia64' and 'IDSvia64.sys' are Norton related files so I suggest that you uninstall it if even only to rule it in or out as the cause of the crashes.

Uninstall Norton using the proper removal tool from here

If your AV protection is a paid for product, please make a note of the product key number first and then download a good free AV protection to see if the problem is solved;

So if the drivers fail to load and suggests the AV is causing system to shut down, nothing else could cause this to start now to happen?

Problems caused by drivers can happen anytime but most often it is after something has been updated (Windows or your AV as just two examples) or a new item of hardware has been installed.

You are welcome  :)

I ended up running a tweaking tool program and haven't had another BOD

No such thing as a good tweaking tool and most certainly not one that fixes problems for free, they normally cause more problems than what the user had in the first place and then ask for an online payment to fix the mess that they caused  :ranting: something that you have done fixed this so be pleased with yourself and do not give kudos to some junk program.

No problem, thank you for the follow up and you are most welcome abrahams child  :)

You're probably right about the tweak program as it had another BOD yesterday.  I haven't installed any new hardware other than Windows updates.  What can I check for as this is a big surprise that this started out of no where.
