Me again, unfortunately.

In Win 7, I don’t get the option to open as administrator when I open the Command Prompt. I get a window with: C:\Users\BC>_

I’m BC, of course.

That last underline is flashing, wanting me to type in a command.

Please, how should I proceed?

No, did not disable UAC.

I don't see the option to open as administrator.

Thank you,

Bry

Gday.

W7 cmd can be a pain sometimes.   If still hard to reach, try this.

Click Start, > in the search box, > type cmd, > at the top of the results window, > right click on cmd, > in the drop down menu, left click, Run As Admin.

Please try first the fix for your OS related to the error code you received.

System File Checker found nothing.

Update Readiness Tool is taking hours to download.

Still trying here...

I finally got "Update Readiness Tool" to download and ran the program. On the surface, it seemed to work. Download “1 of 1” didn’t come up when I shut the computer down. But when I manually checked for Updates, there was an error. Not sure the problem is gone. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the Kumar link. That will be next.

Here’s where I stand: When I close out, I there is no request to wait for an update. But when I manually download updates, I have got error messages and once, the update downloaded but failed during the installation phase. I fear that I am no longer receiving Win updates automatically. Is there a way to check that?

Thanks,

Bry

What is Lennox?   What is the brand and model of the Machine.

Please click on the clock , (bottom right of the screen) check that the time, date and region are correct.

Try this fix.

Download this Auto fix http://go.microsoft....?linkid=9830262

Double click to run it.

select  Window Update bar. then click Next.

The Find and fix problems with Windows Update tool will then attempt multiple repairs. This usually takes several minutes.

Close the troubleshooter and try windows update, if still a problem, run the fix again twice, regardless if it say's problems fixed.

Please note that the troubleshooter might fail to fix issues during the first run - common example is update database corruption (updates do not finish downloading, or installation never completes). In such case, just run the troubleshooter once or twice more.
