Hello everyone,

I'm pretty bad when it comes to buying the right hardware for my system.

Im running a old Aspire M1100-JE7Z that currently holds a 4gb DDR2 RAM, and a AMD Radeon HD 5450 videocard and a AMD Athlon II X2 260 processor 3.2 GHz.

Now I want to add another 4gb RAM DDR2 as I've got one slot open still and upgrade my videocard to a better one.

Can i just randomly add whatever card of 4gb DDR2 RAM or are there things i need to look out for when buying/adding such a card?

As for my videocard, whats the best card I can get that will work on this system?

Thanks in advance!

Gday Kysaro,  :welcome:

A couple of links first,

Service Manual, > https://www.manualsl...pire-M1100.html

User Manual, > https://www.manualsl...#product-AspireM1100

If the PSU has not been upgraded, it is 250W PSU.   It does not have any PCI-E auxiliary cables, so any video card used has to draw power from the PCI-E slot, limit is 75W.

Let us know the budget for the card and the country you will purchase from.

RAM upgrade, best bet is to go to this site and use the Scan My Computer, let us know the result, > http://www.crucial.c...0#memoryResults

The result of the Scan my computer is in this link: http://eu.crucial.co...EE799A531D926C3

It says DDR3 is compatible?

Also the budget for a new videocard would be around 150 euro. (Netherlands) I have not upgraded the PSU.

What i bassicly want is play some of the newer games out there, like Playerunknown battlegrounds, Total war warhammer, the witcher 3 are some of the examples. Now i know this system wont get me that far, but playing on low settings would be fine for me.

Thanks for you effort and time helping me out!

Sorry that I failed to ask the bit version of our OS, if 32bit, no point in upgrading as the OS will not use more. anyway, that scan is wrong, very unusual.   Run the scan again, if still wrong, Use this page to make inquiries about the false detection.

To prevent you having any issues with the size of the card, (don't know case form factor) gone for a mini card.   There are not many only requiring 75W or less.

Here's one review, look for  others to compare, > http://www.hardwares...-card-review/5/

Note, there are two versions, important you get, (ZT-P10510A-10L)

This is from Amazon/de site, > https://www.amazon.d...T/?tag=pcp05-21

from Amazon/nl > https://www.amazon.c... ZT-P10510A-10L

Hope you folk don`t mind me sticky beaking  :)

Kysaro,

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here,  this will provide us with information about your computer hardware, your Crucial link is suggesting RAM at speeds of up to 1866MHz but that would be wasted alongside an Athlon II X2 260 as from memory (no pun intended) the max compatible is 1333MHz with Athlon CPUs, the 1600MHz RAM would be fine as it would clock backwards to 1333MHz while working out less expensive.

Im running a old Aspire M1100-JE7Z that currently holds a 4gb DDR2 RAM,

Your present RAM is DDR3 and the OS is 64-bit, an example of the type of RAM you need here

Please see the information provided courtesy of iammykyl regarding the video card.

You are welcome btw  :)

Edit to add: Is your computer pre owned or have you upgraded the MB yourself, the Acer Aspire M1100-JE7Z shipped with an OEM Foxconn MB like the example here whereas the present MB is the one here

Thanks for the help Phillpower2.   Yes MB must have been changed from the original.

Speccy shows this RAM installed, > https://www.newegg.c...N82E16820139046

This one is a match. > https://www.amazon.c...pin Cl-9 Non-Ec

Note that when you buy separate sticks of RAM, (not in a kit) there is a very slim chance they will not function properly.

Gday.

Yes, this video card is the one to get, > https://www.amazon.c... ZT-P10510A-10L.

Before buying the RAM, ((KVR1333D3N9/4G >  https://www.amazon.c...pin Cl-9 Non-Ec) please post a link if not buying from that site, as we want to ensure you get the correct model.

You are very welcome.

One more question, just curious seeing im going to this shop tomorrow, do you see any graphicscard / RAM in this store you think would fit/work?

Tried looking for the Zotac Geforce GTX 1050 ti mini but its not in there, so maybe theres one in there you think would also do the trick. (im impatient i know haha)

EDIT: Store is http://www.mediamarkt.nl/

Got to go out now.

This one is good, > http://www.mediamark...gb-1488038.html

Will post again later after having a look at the second store.

The second store seams to have  better prices.

Performance is almost identical, all will work.

I recommend This one for your system as it blows most of the heat generated directly out of the case.> https://www.mycom.nl...cations-desktop
