Hi JohannesK

If you feel that this the option to go for then we can have a look at this.

Probably worth a go as running out of options!

Are you able to back up your data?

Ok. Here we go :)

You can create your own installation media for windows 8.1 to do a repair of windows. You will need a blank USB with at least 4 GB of space. Do the instructions on a working machine.

Step1 - Download the windows 8.1 ISO file
  • Download the windows 8.1 ISO file from here.
  • Click on Windows 8.1
  • Select the Windows Edition. Choose windows 8.1. Click Confirm.
  • Select the product language and confirm.
  • Choose the 64 bit download link.
  • Save the .iso file to your desktop.

    Step2 - Download Rufus

    Download Rufus from Here

Insert the USB stick Then run Rufus
    rufus_zpsxovituwi.jpg

Select the ISO file on the desktop via the ISO icon.

    Press Start to Burn

Once completed Transfer the USB to the machine to be repaired.

    Step3 - Repair Windows

You can then do a repair of windows which will keep all of your settings. Follow the guide here. At step 3 select option 4 for USB file and follow the instructions.

If you are unsure of anything please let me know. Let me know how it goes :)

Hello Bruce,

It took a while, but it worked! As a matter of fact, this message is posted from the 'broken' laptop. I am so happy right now. Thank you very much for your help!

Is there anything I should to to sort of finish the job? Or am I done? everything appears to be working.

With kind regards and much appreciation

Johannes
