as the title suggests I am having a bit of troubles running an application (a game to be more precise), since this is a fresh installation of windows I can safely say that I don't have any external app interfering with it.

for the problem itself its that nothing happens, at least nothing that i can see on screen, no error or nothing when i try to launch it, judging from my mouse cursor there is something happening in the background for a couple seconds and then it stops. So i tried using process monitor to find out what was happening, sure enough there is a bunch of things happening in the background but since my knowledge is a bit limited, I couldn't really understand what was wrong.

what I noticed is that there is a lot of "name not found" and "path not found" while trying to access many files having in the details "desired access: -blablabla-" hinting to an autorisation issue or something despite the game being run as administrator.

also I made sure that i didn't make any of the common mistakes when it comes to games like drivers not updated, Dx, switchable graphics...

here is the log in questionAttached File  Logfile.rar   34.05KB   339 downloads. keep in mind that I didn't include the registry operations.

Edit: sorry when I am frustrated, i may sometimes seem a bit impolite. forgot my manners. Hello all and thank you in advance!

:welcome:    urumizawa,

Sorry but we do not use rar on the forums, any logs need to be either copy/paste or if large saved as txt and uploaded.

Can you tell us what the game is that you are trying to play and from where it was obtained.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here,  this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

Attached File  Logfile.txt   821.74KB   356 downloads here it is in a txt. I thought it would be better as a CSV for readability.

The game in question is Dishonored 2 (visible in the log)

the following is the link for speccy's URL for my system. I shouldn't have any software that cause problems with it though since its a fresh windows copy.

Your CPU is ok and the 8GB of RAM meets the minimum requirements but the video card is not good enough for running Dishonored 2, you can confirm this for yourself by entering your hardware and the game info here it may be possible to get it to run at the lowest of the low settings but cannot say for certain.

The minimum requirements for the game state the following;

NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB or better
Contains a single disc
Download of additional files from Steam is required to run the game
Requires Steam activation

I asked from where you obtained the game, can you let us know + whether or not you have downloaded the required files from Steam.

In essence you are trying to play a game that will only run on a high end gaming notebook as a minimum so even if your software is all as it should be the game may not run at all because of the insufficiently powerful Radeon R9 M200X graphics device.
